gbo has grown mostly as an OEM partner for SIEMENS and has developed and produced the major part of the SIEMENS Physical Therapy program. From this we derived not only a solid know-how in medical engineering but also our understanding of quality.

Based thereon we have

• systematically expanded our product portfolio in Physical Therapy towards medically innovative products
• developed and produced valuable products for our OEM customers
• expanded successfully into the market of cosmetic devices.

Our products are always in the upper quality segment. Their common characteristics are practical functionality, best ergonomic user interface and attractive design.

Over the years, we have developed countless devices in cooperation with many customers, development and design partners. These devices always belonged to the best of their class. As a result, we have gained experience with all housing technologies: sheet metal, continuous casting, deep drawn parts, injection molding, .... Thus, we can, following the given circumstances, choose the best package technology.

Another focus is on ergonomics, which always plays a central role in our device developments. Thus, in recent years, touch screen technology at gbo was very early in use, but only paired with intelligent control concepts, which avoid the "scrambling" through endless menu structures.

gbo Medizintechnik AG has a documented Quality Management System and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and DIN EN ISO13485:2003 by TÜV Süd. And this is applicable all the way from development to production and to distribution. Even with registration in other countries, such as Japan, USA, Russia and others we have ample experience.

On this basis, we can document the products we develop standards-compliant and are able to issue the necessary declaration of conformity. Of course our OEM customers profit from this capability.

It's almost a given that we operate with our own hardware and software development department. Here is paid special attention that in the rapidly changing environment only components, modules and parts are used that guarantee long-term availability.

To be a competent and comprehensive manufacturer of physical therapy equipment, one should dominate other core technologies besides the pure device technology.

gbo completely masters the ultrasound technology. We work with specialists of piezoelectric ceramics and develop our ultrasonic heads from there on. This includes the design of the resonators with optimized oscillation and ultrasound field characteristics, the power electronics, the software algorithms and the case design.

The necessary know-how and the corresponding measurement means are present in order to verify the quality of the resulting product. In production, the process steps bonding (resonator to piezo) and achieving the required oscillation quality are the critical steps.

Besides ultrasound, the high frequency technology belongs to the gbo technology portfolio. Here shortwave (27 MHz) and microwave devices (2.45 GHz) are being developed together with their respective applicators.

Of course all aspects of electrotherapy are in the center of our expertise. This concerns the generation of all forms of therapy, such as low frequency, medium frequency, interferential, and gbo's patented HighTone Therapy. Also important are suitable applicators with particularly low biocompatible silicones and suction applicators, both in classic form as well as by the Venturi principle.

History

Founded in 1969...

The company was founded in 1969 as "Gerätebau Odenwald". The original purpose of the company was to assemble the HF diathermy device ULTRATHERM 608 for SIEMENS.

Over the next 25 years, a close cooperation has evolved and ultimately gbo developed and produced the complete equipment range of Physical Therapy for SIEMENS.

In 1994, SIEMENS transferred the business segment Physical Therapy to their development and production partner gbo.

Since that time, gbo is active worldwide under its own name and, based on the acquired products, has developed and expanded its product range.

In addition to SIEMENS as the main partner, gbo also worked for other major customers. These include the MBB with the Medilas coagulation laser, Bosch, VDO and others.
